The story and the action are compelling and, at times, genuinely unpredictable. There is also some great work from Woody Harrelson as a terrifying colonel and Steve Zahn as a hilarious chimp named Bad Ape. Andy Serkis' motion capture performance as Caesar, the leader of the apes, has gotten more compelling and complex over time. The mix of CGI and motion capture technology is absolutely stunning and as groundbreaking today as the original 'Planet of the Apes' was when it came out in 1968.
